The Course: Elmwood Park CUSD #401 Health Education course meets daily for one quarter of the freshmen year. The topics of instruction and discussion are: public and environmental health; human growth and development; prevention and control of disease; nutrition and fitness; mental health and illness; personal health habits; alcohol, tobacco and drugs; stress management; self-esteem and mental disorders; and the systems of the body.

The goal: The goal of this class is to enable students to gain awareness, knowledge, and skills for health literate students through lecture, class discussions, projects, audio/visuals, in-class work, group work, reading response, and assessments.
